The purpose of the nonprofit Shuraako initiative is to connect Somali micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) with merit to the capital they need to succeed. We seek responsible investors and lending institutions committed to catalyzing job creation and economic development in Somalia, while receiving reasonable financial returns in accordance to Sharia guidelines. For these investors, Shuraako has developed a strong pipeline of investment opportunities throughout Somalia.
Shuraako provides a pro-bono service of interfacing with local entrepreneurs to facilitate Concept Note and Business Plan submissions, conduct initial due diligence, and provide hands-on deal servicing post-investment. The goal is to encourage greater investment into Somalia, by sourcing deals and conducting due diligence, which helps investors understand risk and return potential.
Our team is comprised of Somali-based field staff and managed by a headquarters-based Portfolio Management Team - who together have demonstrated strong first year results.
