Over 60% of Somalis live in rural areas. This session will explore how off-grid lighting, in particular solar energy, can close the gap between those with and without access to electricity. Installation of rural solar home systems and innovative financing mechanisms to ensure consumers can afford off-grid lighting will be explored.

in financing Somali businesses, and what they are looking to invest in, while Somali energy companies
will speak about their financing needs (start-up financing, working capital, consumer financing, etc). An
interactive conversation will take place around best practices in financing energy projects and how Somali
companies can best position their investment request.
