Abdikarim Gole

Director, Shuraako

Abdikarim Gole is Shuraako's Director. He oversees Shuraako's loan portfolio and manages Shuraako staff. Abdikarim has more than 18 years' experience working in international development, impact investing, business development, and agricultural economics in fragile states. Abdikarim is responsible for sourcing strategic partnerships for Shuraako and helps design Shuraako's systems and processes that facilitate investment into frontier markets. He built solid relationships between Shuraako and international partners including European Development Finance Institutions (DFIs).

Prior to joining Shuraako, Abdikarim worked as a business developer for the Economic and Community Development Institute (ECDI), a non-profit organization and notable small business administration intermediary lender in Columbus, Ohio. At ECDI he helped small business owners become creditworthy and self-sufficient. Abdikarim was also a lecturer at The Ohio State University (OSU), Columbus campus. While at OSU, he contributed to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality Somali language and culture curriculum for the institution. Abdikarim received a Master of Science in agricultural, environmental, and development economics from The Ohio State University, Ohio. He also holds a Master of Science and B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt. He is fluent in Somali, Arabic and English.
