Required criteria

  • Principle business location in Somalia & Somaliland

  • Financing needs between $100,000 and $1,200,000
  • 2 years of profitable operations
  • Principle financing need being hard assets (not working capital)
  • Fully licensed and registered

  • Agreement not to take part in Excluded Activities [see below]

Exclusions

No investments will be made in businesses involved in:

Labor and Human Rights

  • Forced labor Environmental and Waste
  • Cross-border waste trade (unless Basel Convention compliant)
  • High conservation value area destruction
  • Radioactive materials and asbestos fibers

Energy and Extractives

  • Diesel trade
  • Coal prospection, exploration, mining, processing and trading
  • Oil exploitation, extraction, production, transportation, refining and storage

Restricted Sectors

  • Pornography/prostitution
  • Racist/anti-democratic media
  • Alcohol beverages
  • Tobacco products
  • Weapons and ammunition
  • Gambling
  • Illicit drugs
